Generation Z – the latest technology generation

Generation Z, also known as Zoomers, is very commonly described as the generation of modern technology and the Internet. This demographic cohort includes anyone born between 1995 and 2010. Since they are the first people to grow up in a fully digitized society,  they are often referred to as the “multitasking generation,” “Generation C,” “Generation V” or the “silent generation.”

Generation Z comprises the people who have always been deeply connected to technology, practically from the moment they became self-aware. As a generation that grew up with high-speed internet and the openness to personal information sharing on social media, it should come as no surprise that Gen Z is well-known for being ever-connected online to their peers and social communities, as well as taking an active part in online discussions at forums or chat-rooms. They also tend to use the Internet whenever they need to find an answer to a question or a problem they encounter. Gen Z can rely on their tech savvy and extensive social networks to make informed purchasing decisions. Their pragmatism leads them to explore and evaluate a range of options before buying a product. They highly value product usability and time saving opportunities.

Generation Z are ‘digital natives’ who feel perfectly at ease with  new technologies. The Internet is a part of their DNA: it storms into their homes, their education and work as well as their way of socializing and accessing culture.

Post-Millennials are great multitaskers – doing several things at the same time is very natural for them. On the other hand, however, they have a very short attention span, so it takes a lot of effort to focus their attention on one thing, also when it comes to modern technology, mobile apps, etc.

Generation Z is a generation that follows trends very eagerly.  Members of this generational cohort are susceptible to all kinds of advertising and often succumb to it in an unconscious way. However, it is really hard to satisfy them. They value personalized products, and they are drawn to brands who share their point of view on political and social issues. Therefore, companies are racing to capture their attention and target them most effectively  by various social media campaigns.

Post-Millennials are active on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Messenger, or WhatsApp. They truly live and breathe the virtual connection life, saturated with mobile apps, modern technology and the ubiquitous Internet. They have never known life without smartphones, Facebook and Instagram. Twitter is a bit archaic for them, they prefer Snapchat or TikTok.
